5- Combat Readiness

"Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us? Then I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'"  Isaiah 6:8

The soldier who is ready to serve God and do His work is the one decorated with honor after the call to arms is over.  Readiness means having a right relationship with the Supreme Commander and knowing what He wants.  Most of the time, however, we are so busy telling God what we want to do and where we want to go, that we miss His orders of the day.  We may be waiting for the perfect duty, or the sensational assignment one that most likely will glorify us instead of God to come along before we act.  When that glorious and great opportunity does arrive, we are the first to step out of the ranks and say, Here I am.  Send me!  However, are we ready to accept the dirty, obscure and undistinguished little duty assignment when He calls us to it?

Combat readiness means that we are ready to do the smallest thing or the largest...it makes no difference.  Today, be mindful that God may place you in a wonderful and pleasant duty assignment, or He may lead you to a drab and thankless place.  Will you be ready for both?
