Hey guys. I'm looking for anybody that might remember my uncle, Steven Daniel "Danny" Casey. He served in TRP E, 17th CAV in '65 - '66, Bien Hoa. He passed away in '69 while on leave. My Brother- "Dinky" Doc Cox, was in E-Trp 1/17th, but I don't know which platoon. Served '70-'71, then returned home to 82ndAB till he got out, back to Florida. He has had many demons, alcohol and weed problems. He just recently found out how we(Family) reacted to his being wounded- we never talked to him about it. That was our fault and BIG MISTAKE!!!! We should have told him then. Anyways, looking for any of his buddies. I served in 2nd Cav, then 5th SF Grp (also a medic-wanted to copy my big brother), and Uncle Ronnie Raygun kept us busy as heck!!! Different time and different stories. I want to say THANK YOU to the guys who fought in Nam!!!! Thank you for your sacrifices, and having to serve, the get dumped on by Stupids Civilians, who wrongly blamed YOU, like you had a choice in the matter!! They didn't blame the "Leadership" that got that nightmare started, but the ones who had to do the service!! This Country owes you a HUGE APOLOGY!!! To E Troop 17th Cav Veterans - I wanted to let anyone who served from Mar 67 to Mar 68 that I lost a dear friend on August 13, 2007. Ronnie Copeland was killed in a motorcycle accident. Ronnie was returning from the VA Hospital in Durham,NC when a car pulled out in front of him. He was buried in Mebane, NC on August 17, 2007 with military honors rendered by Ft Bragg troops. He is survived by his parents Bill and Ruby Copeland, a brother Jimmy, and Ronnie's wife Sandy. He had recently completed chemo treatment for lung cancer and was just starting to feel better. A born again christian and a friend to all.

Looking for guys who may have served with my father, Greg Brooks. I don't have alot of information about him as he died in 1973 when I was 6yo. I did recieve alot of his military records which has him assigned to: 4th Inf Div, Camp Enari, Pleiku, RVN 12/30/1969. He recieved an injury when he stepped on a enemy punji-stick 3/70. He was sent to Ft. Leonard Wood for army basic, then to Fort Benning, Ga. for 101st ABN training then to Fort Bragg, NC for Ranger LRRP/Raider course and Graduated in the 82nd Airborne. He was the validictorian of his high school class and was attending Denver University for business Law prior to his service. I would very much like to meet someone who knew him. I was on The Vietnam Memorial(Virtual)Wall site and found a posting by Sgt. Forrester on the death of LT. O'Boyle. He stated that he and the LT. had taken over a platoon that was full of junkies and he and the LT. had numerous death threats against them. He also stated that hearing of the ambush he checked his C-4 supply and found 20 lbs. missing. He states E troopers killed the LT. Is this guy for real and has anyone else heard of this bull%$#&..... What kind of jerk would post such jibberish on a site that honors our dead and tarnish the deeds of our heros.

To All Motorcycling Sky Soldiers!! "Ride To Atlanta" On Saturday, October 7th at the Concord Mills Shopping Center off of I-85 & Speedway Blvd in Concord, NC a group will gather at 5-AM, fuelled and ready to ride at 6-AM SHARP!!!! There are several hotels/restaurants located nearby for those travelling the day before. We'll be escorted onto I-85 South by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and led to the South Carolina state line. I'm just curious,if any of you in E Troop during 68-69 remember getting a Christmas card of a bunch of gals with an Army duce 1/2 (truck) that we borrowed for our carwash. It was a money making project to send packages to E Troop. We were members of Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We had orginally planned to do this for my Father, who was in Vietnam, a Com. Engr. at Cam Rhum Bay. Dad sugested that we " Adopt " my brothers group instead. We were very proud of the commendation we received and the individual 173rd pins, we wore them proudly !! I no longer live in Iowa, I'm a Nurse in the Ft. Champbell area, I have taken care of many Viet Vets and it breaks my heart to see a generation of men dying too soon, Agent Orange. We lost our father to Agent Orange. WWII, Korea and Vietnam without a scratch only to die from something in the air. I really would like to hear from from anyone who remembers the cards, I was hard work washing that truck !! By the way guys--Welcome Home !!!

I was 3rd platoons main 60 gunner, I guess I can call myself that, as I was the one that always carried it on ground ops, except the night I was shot, dummy me, I vol to walk point that night. I was wounded in the left hand on a night ambush near Tam Quan. I used to be able to count to 10 back then, but now I can only count to 8. 3rd platoon was made a dismounted recon rescue and reaction force for the Brigade from May 1968 to Feb 1969. 3rd Platoon made 147 Ca's during this period (Which earned 3rd platoon a air medal and all of us the C.I.B,and you guys in 1st and 2nd platoon thought the Cav always road HA HA)I found Tony Manquarro a few years ago,(Tony had kept score on the combat assults) and have kept in touch with "Doc" Titus, Larry "Scrap" Schember and just found Randy "Gibby" Gibson after searching for him for 25 years. Has anyone "HERD" from Alvin Jackson, Gill, Clarence Kooney, Paul Lemon or Larry Enhen (spelling on last name might not be right?)or any of the other guys who's names I can't remember? I got in touch with Larry about 10 years ago, but lost his address when I got divorced and moved. Ok, I know I've been pretty windy, but us old fart Vets can get that way sometimes, besides, I just found this site, and it thrilled the you know what out of me. Can you guide me please? Back in 1967 I was 11 years old and corresponding with a member of 3rd Platoon, Troop E, 17th Cavalry. I sent him packages and he sent me wonderful letters. Subsequently I joined the Army myself and retired in 1997. I've been trying unsuccessfully to locate him for years. Any suggestions? He is SP/4 Robert (Frank) Moreland, RA 19881381. His first tour in Vietnam was Sep 66 to Sep 67. He must have served a second tour with the same unit because he was the Sky Soldier Soldier of the Month for March 1968. I was E Troop's CO in '68 taking over from Dick Williams. My 1SG was John Sloat; my XO John Phillips and Bob Hess my 1st (?) Plt Ldr. I recall Sgt Ron Reagan and am lost right now on exact names of others of you on short notice. I was S-2 Air foe 173rd and was sent to Task Force South as S-2 before coming to E Troop. I've since hooked up with Chief Jack Talbot from 61st AHC, Lucky Stars here in CA. I distinctly remember 1SGT John Sloat dissing MAJ Rewerts as a "leg" running the Bde Staff on PT around the Crap Table and the generator in the minefield around E Troop, Does anyone remember SGT Tadina from our Co "N" LRRPS gratifying "Tango" after the Labradore Retriever pulled the team's bacon out of the fire by refusing to leave the HLZ (thereby prematurely triggering an ambush saving the team?

Was there late, was with the N-Ranger company. As the Herd started standing down I transferred over around June or so. Did some guard on the Tam Quahn bridges, ran the An Khe pass, secured the airfield at An Khe after the 4th ID pulled out (Zips living in the hooches on one side of post and us on the other, fire fights along the stream running through the post). Seeking information, recollections, pictures, etc... of PSGT Everett W. Marcum, who served in Troop E both in Okinawa and Viet Nam. He retired from the Army 1 Jan 1966. He passed away on 18 Aug 2000 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Although he served in many units during his 20 years in the service from WW2, Korea, the Cold War, and Viet Nam, he was always especially proud to have been a member of Troop E, 17th Cavalry.

I have made contacts with Don Palmer, Steve Brion, and also with Edward Nunez from the same time frame and platoon. I also found that Ronald Berryhill died in an oil field accident in Eastern Oklahoma, sometime in 1972 or 1973 shortly after his discharge from the service. Knew some of the Cav guys and am looking for Mike Flynn who came to the LRP Platoon from Troop E. Mike re-enlisted in the Army after Vietnam and became a Chaplain. Was saddened when I heard that Cavalryman Tom Haney was killed, we talked and fooled around occasionally. When I first got to the platoon I patrolled with Jake's team and then for about two months I was a fill in on many different teams. Toward the end I served with Jake as his Assistant Team Leader until I was getting ready to ETS out. I was replaced by Reed Cundiff. Had the pleasure of patrolling with guys like Larry Cole, Roger Bumgardner, Chris Christenson, Bruce Porter, Jake, Tom Kaiser, Brune, Ralph Raperto, Kevin Leahy, Bob Roedocker, Roger Brown, Sgt Guill, Bill Collins, and a host of other great people. The only regret I have today is the in-ability to travel to see all you guys. I am pretty much stuck nearby due to family matters. Time has faded my memory but I think it was the 4th Platoon. S/Sgt Allen was the platoon leader for most of my time there. Sgt. Albert English was our Sgt. I just made contact with him on August 19, 2003, the first time since 1967. The 3th weekend in July we have had a Vietnam Vet Reunion for the past 13 years. Brian J. Sutton was the finest person I have ever met. He took chances that no other person in his position ever did. I remember we were riding in his jeep and he got shot in the leg by a sniper. He turned around and looked at me and siad "George the bloody bastards shoot me". Typical Sutton! He was back in the field on crutches in 3 weeks! I hope that all of us have an opportunity to meet and remember someday!

I came to the LRRP in August,1966 and formed the Last team of the platoon, which was team 7. Prior to that I was a squad leader in A1/503. The original members of team 7 were Ron Davenport, Chris Christensen (TURTLE), Ralph Raperto, Evans and myself. For information that anyone does not know= Major Sutton was killed in 1969 while serving as a Battalion Commander. Major Sutton was widely respected as an Officer and as a Soldier from all of the LRRP. Any of you ex LRRP soldiers are highly encouraged to join the 75thrra association. Reed Cundiff is our unit director. Reed was in the LRRP in 66-67 serving as the team leader after SSG Jakovindo DEROSed. SGM Ret. Vladimir Jakovenko will be inducted into the Ranger Hall Of Fame in Aug.2003 at Ft. Benning. Jake after leaving Vietnam joined the Green Berets and Participated in the Son Tay raid. Came with the "Heard" from Sucran on the boat ride cross the S. China sea. Dugin on the Per. of Ben Hoa airbase. They gave us crates & crates of grapefruit to fight dehydration. I have been in the Cav like my fathers before me.

Just like to know what happened to two African American fellers that had an A.P.C. called "Deep Purple". I don't remember their names but they were called, "Baby Cakes & Double ugly" One was a Pharmacists assistance. All our fellers had extremely bad Tinea and he fixed us up.
