I was watching the local (FL) coverage about Hurricane Katrina yesterday & they were showing some citizens going around in their personal boat to rescue people from their attics and rooftops in New Orleans. One older man had a green "boonie" hat on & the 173rd patch was on the top of his head. I thought I'd pass my observation along to you.....something to be proud of.

Stan, WOW! I know your son! I only know him as Rogers. I spent time in Italy with my husband. I remember talking with him about his girlfriend in Ireland and if I'm right he was born there? I spent many ah nights drinking with the boys in the barracks. You will have to ask him if he remembers me. My husband was sent to a different unit right before he left for Afghanistan. Anyway, he would probably remember us mostly as the Hanchetts! I hope he has a great r&r, even if he doesn't remember me. J

Hello everyone, At 0955 this morning I hugged my sons neck at the Atlanta airport. Once they left Kuwait it was 5 hours to Frankfurt, Germany, refuel, and two hours later on the way to Atlanta arriving on the ground at approx 0905, 31 August. He has lost weight, down to about 175 from 190 when he left Italy for Afghanistan. He is, of course, in good spirits and we went immediately to Fuddruckers for a hamburger and a beer. Tomorrow he picks up his girfriend from Northern Ireland at the Atlanta airport. Gonna be a great two weeks. Stan Rogers

I hope this message makes it to Donna Robinson who was the mother of SSgt Damion Robinson. Our family was devastated to hear of the loss of your son. Our son Spc Cory McCarthy was a medic with Alpha Co in 2003.He many times spoke of Damion as being one of his best friends while serving with the 173. Both of them being medics brought them an immediate close bond. We don't enter this sight very often these days, but Cory was called yesterday by his former sergeant and told of your loss. Since they had been so close this has brought him deep sorry as well as the rest of us in our family. Cory always spoke highly of his friendship with Damion. Hopefully our prayers will help get you through these time of pain.We know the pain of receiving word of death and injury and know that it seems like your whole world is crashing in on you at once. If you care to contact us for emotional support during the coming weeks or months please don't hesitate. Our address is at the top of this message. May God Bless you and comfort you. Please know that Damion will continue to serve with others from the 173 in our hearts and minds. Mike and Carol McCarthy, Parents of Spc Cory McCarthy formerly medic to Alpha Company 1/508

Good Morning to the 173rd family. Thank you to everyone who comes to this site. Although I rarely post, it is important to me to be able to connect with everyone. The first two pieces of my morning ritual are starting the coffee and turning on the computer. I check for e-mail from my son, which are too few words very infrequently, and then I come to this message board. Whether it be good news or bad news, someone looking for information, or a cheery note, it is comforting to know that others share the same emotions and are struggling with the same issues I am. Friends and family outside the military do not always understand the daily tension, but I know that 'family' on this site understand. Thank you, Mr. Bradley for all you do to keep this site running, and for all who care about a Sky Soldier.

Well hello eveybody - well we survived Katrina with minimal damage. Thankfully by the time it hit us it was only a category 1. So it was typical damage. You know - trees uprooted, trees stripped bare, garbage lids in neighbor's yards, gas grill in pool, potted plants in trees, fences down, mailboxes somewhere? chairs overturned. We were really blessed - no deaths, no injuries, minimal flooding and short power outage. But the big thing that everyone was fascinated with was - the Hero Tree. I have a small Dogwood with lightweight foam stars with the names of Heroes serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have put names of the ones who I know, names from parents who asked me to add their son's or daughter's names, names of husbands and wives. I even have Gold Stars for those we have lost in Afghanistan. Not one Star blew off - I think Michael protected them. So to all my Sky Soldiers - stay safe and focused - Mommaski is still jammin' Love to all.

washingtonpost.com Friends Are Lost In Battle Days Apart Md. Classmates Die In Iraq, Afghanistan By Avis Thomas-Lester Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, August 30, 2005; B01 They met as freshmen in the Army Junior ROTC at Baltimore's Forest Park High School, the quiet, strong boy who couldn't wait to join the service and the outgoing girl whose plans included college before the military. For four years they competed against each other -- both served as cadet captains, company commanders and drill team commanders. They celebrated their successes: city drill team championships four years in a row, her promotion to executive officer in the JROTC program, his winning a coveted JROTC award. On graduation day in June 2000, they grinned into a camera together as they locked arms and displayed their diplomas. And they died within two weeks of each other -- Spec. Toccara R. Green, 23, in Iraq on Aug. 14, when a roadside bomb exploded near her truck, and Sgt. Damion Campbell, 23, on Friday, when his convoy was ambushed in Afghanistan. "This is not a good day," Toccara's father, Garry R. Green Sr. of Rosedale, Md., said yesterday after learning of Campbell's death. "I was just coming around about Toccara, then I got some more bad news. "You watch them grow up from the time they are 15 together. They are competing in competitions, and you get really close. They go into the military. You lose one, then you hear about this. I couldn't believe it." Military officials said Campbell -- assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment, based in Vicenza, Italy -- was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during a combat patrol. His mother, Donna Robinson of Baltimore, said colleagues in her son's medic unit told her that four people had been injured when a rocket exploded and that they had tried to save Campbell by administering CPR. "But it was too late," she said. "They gave him the last rites." Green's transportation unit, which lost a sergeant two months ago, had stopped for a rest break when a bomb exploded near her truck and a piece of shrapnel struck her in the neck, authorities told her mother, Yvonne Green. Green was assigned to the Army's 57th Transportation Company, 548th Corps Support Battalion, headquartered at Fort Drum, N.Y. She was the first woman from Maryland killed in the conflict in Iraq. More than 2,100 service members have died in Iraq and Afghanistan since military operations started, officials said. News of the deaths of two former students in just 12 days rocked Forest Park High, where teachers and administrators remember the pair. "They were two of the most pleasant students you ever wanted to meet," said teacher Brenda Wallace. "When they said last night that Damion Campbell from Forest Park had been killed, I just started screaming. I just broke down. . . . I don't know how many times it has ever happened that two kids from the same high school, from the same Junior ROTC program, two young people who both wanted so much to honor their country have been lost." Retired Col. Franklin Collins, who was their JROTC adviser, said the two enjoyed a friendly competition. Of three companies, they commanded two: He headed Alpha Company, she oversaw Bravo. Of four drill teams, they commanded two. "They were just two of the best," said Collins, who kept up with news of each after they graduated from high school. "They both were committed to serving their country, even in high school. . . . They excelled together." Collins, who served three tours in Vietnam during 30 years in the Army, said he advised both students to go to college before entering the service. Green enrolled at Norfolk State University, but Campbell enlisted almost immediately, he said. "That was always his goal," Collins said. "He wanted to be career military." Campbell returned to his alma mater a year after graduation and spoke to students about his positive experience in the service, he said. Donna Robinson said that on the day before her son died, he had wired his 11-year-old brother, Nicholas Buaka, $100 to buy a new PlayStation. She said Campbell had e-mailed her early last week that his unit was embarking on a mission and that he would call her when he returned. She was notified of his death by his father, who lives in Jamaica, because the Army had confused her address. Toccara Green left Norfolk State after one semester and transferred to Morgan State University in Baltimore. At the end of her freshman year, however, she opted to go to work full time. Office jobs proved too confining and caused her to have migraines, her mother said. "She only had one headache while she was in basic training," Yvonne Green said. "That told me that she just hadn't liked working in the office, that it was too confining for her." Toccara Green spent nine months in Kuwait and was on her second tour in Iraq when she was killed. Her family last saw her Aug. 3, when she returned to the Middle East after a two-week visit home. Collins, the JROTC adviser, said the loss of both students brought tears to his eyes. "It's like something just hit you in the pit of the stomach. They were both so young. It seems like this kind of news is coming a lot faster now."

Mr. Bradley has had the following, as an excerpt, posted on this board since it's inception, "dedicated to all Sky Soldiers Past and Present by; Honoring the past, Supporting the present and Encouraging the future. All are welcome...". I have had and have the pleasure and privelage of coming to this board since my son first became a member of the 17rd ABN. By all that we do and say, as friends and family of our troops, we do honor their past, support the present and encourage each individual soldier, as well as ourselves. I truly believe that most of what is said here is without malice; rather sometimes, we tend to misinterpret the intent of what others say or what may be the true intent of what they are trying to accomplish when they post something. It is our ability to be tolerent, when other's words, may not be words we would have, ourselves, chosen to use. It is this ability to be tolerent and non-judgemental that fosters many common bonds. Sometimes, it is difficult to accept the simpleness of words that, in fact, harbor much truth and reality. Patience is an never ending virtue.

I see the pain of death and loss of a friend and the joy of having a loved one within arms reach. This is hope. This is when God says I'll never put upon you more than you can handle. God is love and this is his greatest gift of all. To the ones that lost a loved one. We all pray for you and remember your son is a Hero. He will be missed by many. May God be with You.

Chiara, I live in California 2 hours south of Pvt. Palmer's hometown of Sacramento. Even though my son did not know him, I will be attending his services as I feel it is the least I can do to honor Pvt. Palmer. If there is something you want me to pass on to his family please let me know. My sincerest sympathy to the families and friends of our fallen warriors. To our Sky Soldiers and especially the Combat Wombats (Alpha Co.): Know that not a day, an hour, or even a moment, goes by that you are not in our hearts and thoughts. You are doing a FANTASTIC job and we are so proud of you! God is watching over you, I know because I asked him to. Stay TOGETHER, stay ALERT, Stay FOCUSED, and stay SAFE!

Well the man made it home today--picked him up at the airport at 6:30 pm.. It was sure nice to see him in one piece again. He hugged his mother and swung her a around like a doll.. I told him that he better not try that with me I'd break his back. We went to dinner at the barrel and now he with his older sister getting plastered. It is sure nice to have him home for a little while at least. At least he's home for a little while the same kid that I was at that age.. God forgive old fools and our kids..

First, I would like to send my condolences to Hyland, Lehmiller, Palmer, Hall and Campbell families. My husband was Michael Schafer and I know the pain and the chaos that is occurring at this moment. I was in Italy when we received the news of the 4 and was able to attend the memorial service for them, which our Brigade has now become too frequent. With everyday that passes things seem to be getting harder instead of easier. To Mr. Bradley I never had the chance to tell you how thankful I am for this site and for your presence during everything. To all of you, we are family if only by these messages and a common prayer...for all of our men to come home. Thank You!!!

After posting the message on Friday I began to go through the pictures and found 3 pictures of Daymean, as tears came to my eyes with relief I looked at the backgrounds of the pics and saw the same background as the pics from Italy so all I can conclude is that the pictures are old. It was nice to see some pics of him smiling though. To "C" I would love to give you the information but I would not like to leave it on here so if you would like to email me your information I will let you know all that I know. To those who recently lost a loved one, my heart and prayers go out to you and may God bless you and your family. I will continue my search and I will keep everyone posted if I find anything and I hope that if anyone finds anything that they would please let me know also. Thank you and God Bless!

To all family and friends of our soldiers. I'm a father of a SKY SOLDIER. Needless to say I'm a very proud man. We all have different ways of dealing with this war on terror, we have to respect each others point of view. We don't have to agree with it. I see people saying I'm just a mother or just a wife. You are not JUST, you are. We are all a part of this, it's hard to remain positive, especially with the losses that some of you have to endure. They are heroes and it's our responsibility to let them know, and for the HEROES that lost there lives it's up to us to remember them tell there children and family and friends how they gave the ultimate of themselves to make our world a better and safer place. GOD BLESS ALL OUR TROOPS. SEAN I LOVE YOU, DAD

Hi Everyone, I hope this finds you doing ok. To Tired Wife - yes it is nice to come to this site and see all the wonderful news of families hearing from their loved ones and from those who are coming home for a little while - I live for those messages. But I also know from experience that our Sky Soldiers are in dangers way and the cost of Freedom (whether it is physical freedom or freedom from fear) is blood. Sugar coating it will only make the transition harder. The wonderful thing about this site is yes, we share the excitement of loved ones coming home, but, we also share the fears when someone hasn't heard in awhile, the sorrow when we hear a family has lost, and the concern when someone sees the changes in their loved one. That is what this site is for - to support each other and to support our Sky Soldiers. Yes sometimes it is HARD and sometimes CRUEL when people post rumors (I feel we should wait until the DoD releases the names). But we are a family and you know what they say about families - ya gotta take the good with the bad.If you haven't noticed Mr Bradley has posted the funeral homes that will be handling the funerals for our recent losses. PLEASE take the time to send a sympathy card (address it "To the Family of _____ care of "funeral home name") You have no idea how important it is for these families to know that we love them and we grieve with them. The most treasured ones I have are from the Sky Soldiers old and new and their families. Well I better go - Hurricane Katrina is bearing down and I want to send this before I lose power. Talk to you soon - I hope. Love to all. To my Sky Soldiers - stay safe and focused. We love you.

To tired wife - I, too, come here to see words of encouragement and good news about soldiers getting home, back from patrols, and succeeding in their missions. But, I also know that this is a war and all the news is not going to be good. Part of providing reassurances and support is dealing with the unfortunate things that are happening to our young men and women. My wife was once a 'tired wife' too, but she understands that in order to appreciate all the good things we are hearing here, we have to deal with the bad, too. Our son is coming home on R&R soon - he didn't get one in Iraq - so we joyously hear about all of your experiences with your loved ones getting off those planes. But, at the same time we know there are families living with the reality that their loved ones are not coming home - and for them we grieve and provide whatever support we can. I stood by the side of the road in Loganville, GA yesterday and saluted a processional for a young soldier from Georgia's 48th Brigade and once again felt guilty that our young soldiers are paying a horrible price for their courage and our freedoms. God Bless our Sky Soldiers.

To "Tired Wife": I think the reason there is so much speculation is that this forum is the only source of information for some of us. We may not be on the Army's list of folks to notify in case of the death or injury of our soldier. Some of us may not even hear news from the person who IS notified. I check this message board every day for news of what is going on because I know I will not receive a knock on the door and I may not even get a phone call or email from my son's wife or his adoptive dad. So, yeah, no news is good news, but some of us may not hear the news if it's bad.

To those who wonder about how long it takes to get home for the R&R. My husband left to go to Kuwait yesterday, left there today to go to Germany and I will be at the airport to pick him up tomorrow at 2pm. It seems like once the soldiers get to Kuwait, the journey goes pretty fast -its just trying to get to Kuwait. God Bless!

i just dont get it,every time i come on this page i see speculation about people that have died, would it be so difficult to just say no news is good news rather than worrying everybody-we are going through enough as it is. i dont know how anyone who thinks like this can get through the year, try to let go a bit. if you dont hear anything your soldier is ok so for the sakes of everyone reading this board keep your speculation to yourselves. i dont mean to be nasty but im getting tired of coming on here looking for nice messages of incouragement and instead finding bad ones. on the bright side we are half way! thanks

Our son just called! The first phone call since he left and I am proud to say that I did not cry! He is with the 1-508/HHC but is not with the "group" right now, he is in some sort of competition and off base. So to the Mom looking for her son, I can't help you even tho our sons are in the same "group." And for all of you reading this, obviously I don't know military terminology.... Diane

The message posted about who is laughing now should be a reminder that this is an open public message board. I don't know what kind of sick twisted, demented person would write such a thing, but we all need to keep supporting out soldiers and supporting each other. Lets all just be much more aware about the information we post. Maybe we should start posting only general information and not even our soldiers names. I don't know how to stop more comments like this, but we all have to stay pulled together and beat this together as a family. God bless our soldiers and God bless all of us.

Honestly, I don't know how to explain what I am looking for. Daymean Lawson Lewis (PFC) is actually who I am looking for. I love this man immensely and I haven't heard from him since May 2nd, 2005. I have sent multiple emails and have had no answer. Every day I check the solider portion of Legacy.com to make sure he is still with us and nothing is posted so I try and keep my hopes high. Last email I received said he had just returned from a mission and the rodeo was cancelled so a package for me was unable to be sent but he was refreshed and alright and he was homesick and loved me. I pray for him everyday and write him every week. I've sent mail also but haven't heard anything back. I know I am on the list to be notified if anything happens to him and again I haven't received anything. I guess I am just looking for some kind of information to know he is ok or to see if there is someway to check up on things with his troop. I love this man and I miss him more and more as the days pass. Right now I just need to know that he is alright. If anyone can help me out that would be a true blessing from God. Thank you and God Bless

A co 1-508th is looking for volunteers to find as many old, but useable, running shoes in sizes 6 1/2 thru 9 1/2-10. Our ANA just got their PT uniforms, but the ETTs didn't receive running shoes from the higher level unit they work for (embedded tactical trainers with ANA). Each company has an adopted Afghan National Army unit (company of platoon) with them, they work alot together. The free world is doing all it can to help out this new Army, but red tape slows down the process. Individuals in the unit and their spouses, friends, organizations have done more than the system has in our six months in country. As 1SG would say, we don't want our Grand kids coming over here, so lets help out. P99

I am just a kitchen manager at a medium sized restraint in Park City, Utah. I don't claim to know much about alot that goes on in the world today, but i do know that I support all that you in the 173d Airborne have done throughout your honored history. I lived in Iraq, just outside of the city of Basra, from @1977-1980. My father(ex-Air Force hnrbl dschrg)was an Instrumentation Supervisor for a company that built a plastics plant for Saddams Baath regime and our Govt. (we didn't know just how bad he was in the beginning) I saw the real people and the ones that toed the line. All of which I believe wanted a change.. they were all scared some more than others, depending on who they knew. Those people needed to be unshackled, and I thank you for helping in that effort. My wife and I live a quiet and peaceful life here in the Uintah mountains of northern Utah, and I can only hope each and everyone of you finds your way home from Afghanistan, or whatever post you defend, and finds peace in this country you protect. Come home safe and if you are in Park City come by The Hungry Moose Pub and grill and I'll buy you a beer or a burger. (please come in ones or twos as I'm not rich!:)) Not everyone in the USA is against what you do as the news would make you think . Thank you for your Service! Scottmorg@hotmail.com

I have to comment...I so admire ALL of you parents that receive phone calls! My son has tried it and all I do is cry and he feels bad & so do I but I can't help it!). Our decision was emails only... It literally takes the "wind out of my sails" and his too....And I worry about him more than me, being upset. So to all the parents/friends & family, we are just as brave...maybe not physically but certainly mentally! The support stateside is overwhelming in Washington, every Aunt, Uncle, cousin, Grandpa & brother have yellow ribbons tied everywhere. Our neighborhood alone in Vancouver has 3 serving...pretty small world! Proud parent of a paratrooper! Diane

Hi Ken, for my bf it took more than a week to come home (Italy). all depends on the availability of the flights. it can take from couple of days to couple of weeks, but I guess that 1 day more or 1 day left doesn't make much difference now that you know he is coming home. at least to me it didn't i was so happy to have him back after i waited and waited for months that all that matter to me was the fact that he left from Afghanistan and he would have been home soon! enjoy your soldier! I did so much with my one!

Again we are trying to make sense of this war. Yes we all thought it would be safer than Iraq, is it safer in America? We have all these questions. I am hurting for the families of all the lost young men giving their lives for us. I am hurting for the soldiers who are so young and have so much life ahead of them. I pray that God's love will ease the pain for the families of our fallen soldiers.

Does anyone know which Company in the 2/503rd the soldiers were in? I just lost my friend who was also in the 503rd so my heart aches for their friends and families. We have a great bunch of sky soldiers, and it pains me to think we all thought Afghanistan was supposed to be better than when they went to Iraq. God Bless Our Sky Soldiers, and may He also be with all of us. At ease Heroes, You're Home now.

tp the families of 2/503rd: My heartfelt sympathies on the loss of 4 heroes. Words cannot begin to describe your loss. But, please know that we are a family here and we are here if you need us. It isn't just the families who now must face this great loss but you too. The fear, the anger and the great sadness and yes even the great relief some of you might feel is normal and understandable. It is our time now to step up in this war and give aid and comfort to the "brothers and sisters" left behind. The families of these young men have now joined the special Families of the Fallen Heroes within the 173rd. We are asmall group that no body wants to join but is always there for those in need. My deepest condolances to the families, friends and brothers of these 4 heroes. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need anything. I am here for you. This web site is a wonderful opportunity to share information we could never get alone. Misued, it can be a very powerful tool to cause pain for each other and to innocent people, such as thoughs who run Starbucks.. How are you supposed to know if something is a rumor? By assuming it is a rumor unless you can find proof that it is true. Go to Starbucks website: http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/csr.asp It says the following: "Starbucks Donates to Military Personnel Starbucks, our customers and partners believe that it is critically important to support our men and women serving the United States. There are numerous examples of Starbucks Coffee Company and our partners supporting the troops. Each week Starbucks partners receive one free pound of coffee. Many partners have collected their free coffee and shipped numerous pounds of Starbucks coffee overseas. For instance, partners in our Atascadero, California store sent their weekly allotment of coffee to troops in Afghanistan so they would be able to enjoy a little taste of home. Our Customer Relations and Information Technology departments in Seattle donated thousands of pounds of coffee to the sailors on the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier group and troops in Mosul, Iraq. These are just a few of the many examples of our partners supporting the troops. We recognize and appreciate the very personal connection customers have with us and how they might miss their Starbucks Experience while serving overseas. Additionally, we are humbled that the troops request Starbucks coffee. To enhance our partners' outstanding grassroots efforts in support of the U.S. military troops, Starbucks is honored to extend our relationship with the American Red Cross in order to provide more coffee to relief efforts during times of conflict. We are pleased to donate 50,000 lbs of coffee to the American Red Cross for distribution to those troops serving in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait. The Company is making this contribution through the American Red Cross as part of its long-term, ongoing commitment to share the comfort of coffee during times of crisis."

Hello Everyone, Hope we all are Blessed with a bit of comfort at the website today. To Kathy: I know what you are feeling of worry and that haunting statement of No News is Good News". But as a Mom too my belief is Worry is Good...Worry means there is still Hope.. Sometimes Knowing is Final. I can tell you first hand of both. But trust me I am coming around to this No news thing to protect my own sanity. The most important things to know is your lines of Command or EX: 173rd 1/508 Charlie 1st Platoon/Rock. Knowing this helps me check this and other sites for others who have some communications. This has cut Worry in half, the other half is in God's hands and a helpful thing I've done is post a picture of Kris by computer with a crazy/silly comment he said that made me laugh. This helps lighten my heavy heart and reminds me of How Proud I am of his Choices in being a Sky Soldier. Like in Marriage: For Better or for Worse. He Loves His Chosen Crew. Kris's Mom

Hey everyone!!!! Hope everybody is doing...ok. I showed my father (we just gave him a computer - he has final stage of emphysema and can't get around anymore) this site. He has been making beef jerky for my son's old unit and he has just been fascinated by this site. He said he wished they had something like this when he was in Vietnam. Mail he said was slow in coming and sometimes it never found him (my mom still gripes over the picture of my sisters and I that he never received ) How wonderful he said for families to share info - that if one guy from a unit was ok then his buddy in the same unit was ok too. For those looking for Official military news - may I recommend www.military.com I signed up for their early briefs so every morning I get to see the latest about what is going on. Also my husband did a "flag" that any time "173rd Airborne Brigade" shows in the news it is automatically sent to me. So I not only get what's going on now but also sometimes history, obituaries and people in the news. I hope this helps. And now to the important stuff - To my "boys" stay safe, stay focused and take care of each other. Remember we love you, we support you and we are proud of you. Love to you all.

We got a one sentence e-mail from our son who is in 1/508 c co 3rd. He said that they will be busy for 1 to 2 weeks and will be out of touch and of course, not to worry. He was in contact with us earlier in the week and said that things have been hectic up there, lots of ins and outs and that he had no room to store any more stuff so I guess I will just sent letters for the time being. He seemed to be good, heat was not to much of an issue, it had gotten a bit cooler. Oh yes, that latest e-mail came in on Friday evening which means he sent it early in the morning Afghanistan time.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to do a quick posting to let the families and friends of 2 503 know there was a front page article yesterday in the San Jose Mercury News here in California. Right smack in the middle is a picture of 3 un-named soldiers from Battle Co. listening in on radio transmissions. The article quotes Capt. Kloepper. It is nice to see the some reporters have not forgotten our men and women over in Afghanistan! A correspondent for Knight Ridder, the company that owns the newspaper spent about a week with Battle Co. The article briefly mentions Battle Co., where they are from in Italy, where they are now. It mostly talks about the Taliban and the terrain of the land. God Bless the 173rd!

Mr. Bradley, I certainly appreciate the work you do to create and maintain this site. It has been the source of invaluable information and great relief for us. I also understand that you want to keep unneeded worry and panic from occurring among people who get their hands on incorrect or misleading information. I have always agreed with your position that rumors and second hand stories create far more problems than they solve. I disagree, however, with screening legitimate news stories from the site. Frankly, while I am glad to know that people heard from loved ones and so forth, my wife and I look to the site mostly as a great source of information. Having so many people sharing what they came across on a legitimate news site expands our ability to catch the news. I believe getting more, reliable information (that come from legitimate news agencies) eases our worries, while not knowing what is going on can be very unnerving. I believe people are smart enough to read the stories and discern for themselves whether it specifies the 173RD or not, and take the news for what it is. How about if you allow people to post links to news agencies, but screen out anything that looks like someone trying to write a second hand version of what they purport to have seen in the news? Regardless, thanks so much for your work that is of so much benefit to us all.

We would like to thank Mr. Bradley, first for having this website which during Mike's deployments was a huge comfort to us. Second for having the honor of meeting you at Mike's service. Never in a million years can one understand this loss unless they have experienced it themselves. We will continue to support & pray for all the troops. Today would have been Mike's 26th birthday, Happy Birthday Mike, we love you, Mom & Dad

Hey everyone! Just a note to let you all know the 1-508th HHC is out again for a week. Also, I wanted to ask if anyone had any good ideas on welcoming their soldier home on R&R. My husband is expected to leave next Friday, and I just wanted to see if anyone did anything special for their soldiers welcoming them home. Thanks! God bless all the Sky Soldiers!

Hello to All Herd Brothers - Especially and specifically to those in Afghanistan, Some of the former members of D 1-503 (From a previous war) will be having a reunion next month, and we'll be thinking of you guys. We send you all our very best wishes, and look forward to your safe return to a peaceful barracks or home...and maybe a little beer (or alot). Take care, and stay alert and healthy.

Thank you Mr Bradley for the pictures. I was able to find several of my son SPC Clint Kelly. One very clear is page 70 #1379. I was trying to find Mangritae, Afgan. on the maps. Couldn't locate it. Curious to know where he is spending his summer. Thank you 173rd for the sacrifices you are making for us.

Hi everyone...Big WHOOHAA for another mission with results. All our Prayers are with each Soldier, family and lets not forget to pray for the souls of our enemy. They were newborn babies and innocent once...raised in the wrong way...false beliefs.. God wants us to have mercy on their SOULS. Maybe this time around they can choose the right way. It is very hard being a God believing person and having so much killing going on but it is the way it must be on this world. I FULLY Support my son being a Proud Sky Soldier Completing Missions so I can believe in God. BLESS EACH ONE & GIVE THEM THE STRENGTH TO GO ON. All my Love, Kris and Come Home.
