The holidays are over and people are getting back to there regular jobs and rutines and thats understandable. I pray everyday that I find the time each day to do something for the men and women of 173rd they every day are putting themselves at harms way for me, so the lest I can do is take my time and some money to help. If there is anything we as the Keyes family can do for any of the soldiers please feel free to email us and we will try our best to help. Our nephew Sgt. I served in the Bde 1970/71. My son is currently serving BSB SPO HHC FOB Fenty (Jal) afghan. 1LT Robert Murphy. I had the opportunity to visit him in Italy in Feb 07 and was impressed with the professionalism, dedication of assigned soldiers that I met. I also had the opportunity to personally meet his Bde Cmdr Col Preysler, he and I have crossed paths a few times at Bragg within the special ops community, never dreamed I would meet him again on a more personal basis. I have all the trust and confidence that he truelly cares about each and every one of his soldiers and will do his utmost to ensure that they all return safely. I hope to make a return visit and thank him.. Drive on Sky Soldiers and Semper Fi GySgt James Murphy USMC Ret

Just a message to David Sanfilippo - parent of a soldier. We don't hear from our son too often either but we do log into the site that the 173rd has available to parents of Sky Soldiers. Just sign up and then you can go into discussion forums and get news from other parents as well as other info, etc. Here's the link: https://www.armyfrg.org/skins/frg/home.aspx?AllowSSL=true To me, this is a better way of obtaining up-to-date info - also, here in San Antonio, we are in touch with the 173rd Assn. made up of veteran paratroopers and they seem to have current information on the goings-on of the troops. Good luck!

My prayers go to the family of SPC Brian Gorham, who passed away after fighting for our freedom. I will keep him in my heart because he was such an awesome person, and he will be truly missed. Love you Brian. We will meet again someday. Maria Elena

Dear Webmaster, am I missing something? It seems that this tour of duty that the postings or approved postings are few and far between. Is there another site you can direct me to in order to get more up to date info. It was somewhat of a comfort not hearing from my son very often to see the letters and postings to and from our troops from their loved ones. I understand that there is a spam problem, but it has been a month and a half since any current posting. I appreciate your time and effort but would like more current info. Thank you for your response. Father of soldier. David Sanfilippo

I am not sure that you will be able to help me. My husband works at Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta and found a flash drive (Light Wave 4 GB) in a leather case. When we looked to see what was on it we found that it belonged to a member of the 2nd Platoon, 173rd Airborne currently serving in Afganistan (?) Firebase Phoenix. The soldiers last name appears to be GREG, and there are other names mentioned, such as Lt. Matt Piosa and there is also a video clip from Nightline on November 12, 2007 which appears to be this platoon. In the Nightline video the Commander’s name is given as Daniel Kearny. Could you help me return this flash drive to him? Laura Carnes

Just a note of thanks and support to the greatest military of all time and in particular the 173. All of the Freeman family were impressed with the soldiers who served with Sean Langevin who was killed last month in Afghanistan. Getting to meet some of the men who served with our fallen hero ment a lot to us and we're eternally grateful. All the best and God's blessing on all the heros of the 173rd. Men, I sure do wish that I wasn't too old and disabled (service connected) to re- join the ranks of 1/503rd. I think what you are doing is a real credit to yourselves, your unit, the US Army and this great country of ours. Overwhelmingly I find people here do support you, it's mostly just those loud ugly people who don't understand. I see progress in Iraq and pray we can get a larger contingent of US troops in Afghanistan, so the units on your left and right are American as well. Not to put the Afghan fighters down, but there is something really special about us. Now, go make that other poor bastard die for his cause and know that your generation of Airborne could be the toughest yet. God bless Airborne! Respectfully, Thomas M. Harrington

To: Sgt. Roberto Sandifer I pray all the time for you and the others safe return. Please continue to be safe and hurry home because we miss you. I've been keeping busy so I haven't had time to really keep in touch with anyone. I am pretty much staying to myself. Anyway, the house is beautiful. I know there are a lot of jealous people, but that's nothing new. Someone has always been jealous of me. Sorry, but I had to toot my own horn. But baby you have a beautiful wife and kids and people only want to see us fail. I plan to prove them wrong. I love you and I wish you were here. We are always better together than apart. This is really hard for both of us I know, but I plan to spend the rest of my life making it better. Be strong, Be safe, and hurry home. We love you.

May you all return safe and sound. Thank you for your service to our country. Only several hours ago I stood as an honorary guard for Sgt. Yesterday was Sgt. Joshua Charles (Chuck) Brennen's funeral in Ontario, Oregon..today (Sunday) he is to be buried in McFarland, WI. For those who hold Josh in their hearts it is important for his commerades to know you are not and will not be forgotten. It's very hard to not be angry at the loss of someone dear to us and to blame the war for this loss. But, irregardless of our political stands, our feelings about war in general..YOU, the men and women standing tall are making us all very proud and are never far from those of us who hold you as one of their own. Although I am not Josh's mom, he, and the men he has been serving with, have been a part of our families prayers and heart songs. Please know that even though Josh is gone, you will remain in our hearts and prayers forever... We stand with you and salute your courage, bravery and fortitude. Kathie and Kevin Hill

URI professor John Leo directed university community members to become aware through their web of the job the 173rd is doing, and all troops deployed
throughout the Middle East. Supah! We need to influence that part of the world, and it's got to be the toughest job around... and US troops are getting it done!
Thanks!!!' Regards, Alan Wild Airborne!

Please know, they are in a better place and have not left you all alone. They will be beside you when you laugh and when you cry; he will be there through everything, he just won’t have the stress. I would like to be here for anything you might need. (anything at all) Sincere regards,

I would just like to say thank you to all those that have posted kind words about Josh. He and I dated for 5 years throughout high school and after he joined the military. He was my best friend, my first love, and my soul mate. The anguish and sadness I am feeling is indescribable. Josh was the most courageous and loving person I have ever met and the times we spent together will never be forgotten. I am thanking God for the time I was able to spend with Josh while I lived in Italy last fall.
To all of his brothers of the 2-503rd: I was honored to have been able to meet some of you that served beside Josh. He had great love and respect for each of you and was proud to have served beside you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all as we face this difficult time. I'm glad that I can find some comfort in the caring words of others.
Thank you. Melissa Malstrom

Our heart felt condolences to SGT Josh Brennan's family and unit. Our daughter, SGT Janelle Walk, attended school with him in Ontario OR and graduated in 2003 along along side Josh. She is currently serving the US Army in Korea, and she would like his family to know that Josh was a GOOD GUY. Only the good die young, and that has been born out again this time. May Josh rest in peace knowing he did what his country asked of him and may his family have peace in their hearts knowing that their son and brother did what so many have done in the past: Laid down his life for his countryman so that we may rest safely in our beds at night and continue to enjoy the blessings that this nation offer to all. Josh will be missed in this little town. Our strength goes out to his family. Greg and Carol Walk Ontario OR 97914

Dear soldiers of the 173rd, I am writing you from Madison, Wisconsin. As many other people here, I had heard about your unit this past month when our local news focused on Josh Brennan as a local soldier fighting the war. Hearing that Josh has now been killed while serving is very saddening. Hearing his father talk and seeing photos of him with his unit, just served as a reminder for how hard your unit is working in Afghanistan. Please know that you are not forgotten. All of our troops are in our hearts and prayers each day. Please always remember what you're doing will always be appreciated and never forgotten. I wish you all the best and pray for your safe and speedy return home to your family and friends. Thank you and stay safe, Rachel Mooney Madison, Wisconsin

I feel saddened to hear that Joshua Brennan has passed. I do not know him, nor am I related to him. However, I do share the same proud name of BRENNAN. I come from a heavily laced military family of which I am very proud of! A family member has been each & every conflict that the USA has been involved with since the Civil War. In March 2008, my youngest neice will sign the dotted line for the US Army on her 17th birthday. She is a little scared, but feels that it her duty. I am so very porud for her! As well as all of those in the Services. My heart goes out to all of the men & women fighting or who have forught for OUR freedom! God Bless! Patty Brennan Sauk City, WI

Thanks to all the soldiers that have taken apon themselves to defend our freedom. To make sure that all our grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc are free and a little safer due to their sacrifices. I have a son that serves with the 173d Airborne and love him dearly. We are so proud of him that he has a calling to defend the US people. You are keeping the dangers distant from us and so people do not feel the fear on a one-to-one basis. If they just took a minute to realize that if the US was attacked, they would be praying for you to exist. To do what you do best, to defend us against the terrors that you currently fight. In reality, you are an answer to the prayer before it is asked. You are all the peoples' prayer, some are just too shallow or near-sighted to realize it. So please do your job and make us a little safer each day, I am praying for you now. Stay safe. Love, one of MANY Moms.

Hello, Tyler, I want you to know that I just finished baking cookies and brownies so that hopefully you and your fellow soldiers will have a treat for Halloween. I know you are not going to be celebrating anything and surely you will not be dressing up and trying to scare people. I'm sure what you have had to do all these months has been scary enough!!!! We, over here will of course be all caught up in Fall and the usual bon fires and Indian Summer celebrations. Through it all we all must remember that all this fun we are fortunate to have as Americans is possible and due to the sacrifices of you and all the soldiers who proceeded you. I continue to pray for all of you every day and want you to know that I am remembering all of you today by doing a little baking for you. I hope it doesn't take too long for my present to arrive. I know it's not all that much but anyone else out there who is reading this message, please think of something you can send to our men to make them feel wanted and appreciated. It's not that much time out of your day. You are free to send whatever you want to send them within reason and that is because of our soldiers who fought and are presently fighting for that and many other freedoms. Sometimes it is too easy to take them for granted! Peace and good will toward all of you. Be safe and come home soon. My heart goes out to all of you and I thank each and every one of you for all the hard work you endure every day. Sincerely, Ms. Lori Schory

To VICKI SAMSEL - I have contact info for SSG James Knight for you. Please email me at: Jaymo1975@hotmail.com.
My son is in the 173rd Airborne, 4-319th. I would like to hear from other parents as well. I check my spam daily so if you send a message, please put 4-319th in the subject line. May God Bless all of our soldiers all over the world!!!
From: Kathy Cruz Looking to connect with family members of 1-503rd A Co. Please e-mail me at roleorodent@yahoo.com if you belong to any of these
soldiers and would like to stay in touch through this deployment. God bless the 173rd ABCT, and may God grant comfort to the families of our fallen and
wounded heroes.
To all Sky Soldiers, may God bless and keep you all safe. My son Eric Delahoussaye was a Sky Soldier and was with Battle Company, !st Platoon (Kelts) in Iraq and Afghan. He has decided to complete his service obligation with the Army Reserve. They have trained him as a Drill Instructor and he was notified today that he is being promoted to Staff Sgt. He still thinks a lot about the unit but is enrolled in college at the present. HMC(USNR)Retired, Glynn Delahoussaye.
Dear 173rd - GOD bless you and keep you all out of harm's way. I want you to know that I personally pray for you guys regularly and my little church in
Weiser, Idaho, prays every Sunday for our brave soldiers. You are not forgotten and your fight is not in vain. Love & GOD bless, Liz Amason Weiser, ID
Keep up the good work. Everyone here in Ontario, Oregon supports you and keep you in our prayers. Thanks for serving. Stephen C. Farrow, Commander, Ontario Post #67, The American Legion, 541-881-1389 www.americanlegionpost67.com
Wanting to send love and support for all of the 173rd who are fighting for freedom. We love you and want you home safely!
To my fellow American Soldiers, We will never forget the Missions which you chose to honor not only us here at home but people from every walk of life struggling for to be free from oppression. I honor you and those who willingly gave their lives for a just cause. Here at home in the Political arena, so many of us have forgotten that our helpless brothers and sisters are after all another human. They say, this is not our fight, but I as a Democrat, would have you to know, " They need our help, now", and not just the words of people who sit back and do nothing, they need our action. I refer not only to Iraq, Afghanistan, Burma, Sudan, Africa, but where ever their is gross miscarriages of justice and dictatorship, in this world. People need to know that we stand ready to assist in their defense, and not just leave them along to suffer at the hands of the Power brokers who call themselves, Politicians. Nate
I just want all of you young ( and older) men to know how much you are appreciated. We all pray daily for your safe return to family and loved ones. You are not forgotten and even though there may not be a lot of support for this war I know of no one who isn't supportive of you brave soilders. I do not think it is fair or right that you have to serve second tours when your four years are over but I hope you remain safe. Jeanna Malstrom
Even though I don’t
know anyone personally in the 173
Dear Joshua Brennan and members of your Unit, I have just read an article on the Internet which contained statements made by your father. He says that often you and fellow troops feel forgotten. Please know that you are not forgotten. You are remembered daily by us in prayer. We pray for a peaceful solution to this mess in the Middle East. I will state that I am not "for the war," but I am very much for the troops who are there and want all of you to come home to be with family and friends as soon as possible! Though we have not met, I have a mother's heart for each one of you! I raised five children and can relate with the pain in your hearts and the hearts of family members. I write from Boise, Idaho. The elevation here is about 1/4 that of where the article states you are located. However, I lived in Madison for 52 years and raised my family there. They went to West High School and a couple of them to the University of Wisconsin. I miss Madison, but am working on making Boise my home now. I have a daughter and family here and I help her with her children. I send warm hugs to all of you! YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN! With love and blessings, Fran Dalton, Boise, Idaho
I just read the story of Josh Brennan and the 173 airborne unit. Please know that those “back home” are very proud of the job you do every day and that you are never forgotten. We can only imagine the danger you face 24/7 and I know that without you and your fellow soldiers there, life in America wouldn’t be the luxury it is. Keep your spirit up, your head down and be safe. Best wishes to all of you. Linda K. Wells
I watched the news story about Joshua Brennan on channel 15 news in Madison. I would like you too know that I am totally behind you guys and wish you all the best. Keep your chins up and your hearts in the right place and know that your doing a great thing!!! I run a Carpet Cleaning company for a living and enjoy it very much. Sometimes I have a bad day but how trivial it seams in comparison to the day to day risks and sacrifices you must face. I also enjoy my freedom and my way of life, and for that I thank you all!! Get er Done and get home to fight another day! We need you guys. You are the true Americans!!! Thanks again, G. Massey, Madison, WI
This message is for Josh Brennan- You've never met me but you're dad is my neighbor and your uncle was my school police officer (who gave me a ticket haha.) Anyways I just wanted to let you know that your family is so proud of you and talk VERY highly of you. Your dad was worried when he found out you got shot but was proud you did what you had to do and that it wasn't super serious. I'm proud to say that I have a neighbor serving for my country and has risked his life for us. THANKS!!! =D -Megan
To Joshua Brennan and the rest of your unit, I just wanted to thank all of you for your service and the sacrifices you are making. We are thinking about you,

3956@bellsouth.netTo Sgt. Roberto Sandifer, We love you and are praying for you and the rest of the soldiers. God said that he will never leave you or forsake you. Trust him and continue to pray. Our little “princess” is growing by leaps and bounds. Marie sends pictures often and this just like being there. We are sending a box off on Monday, July 2nd. You can share with some of the soldiers if you have too much. If you don’t have too much, share anyway.(Smile)Ben’s beautiful wife, Angie was over the house. The kids are beautiful. Mr. Minus thought that I was going to take her away like,Ben. She wanted to go with us on the Palm Beach Princess. Mr. Minus said”No!” “I can’t babysit”. “I am too old”. She said,”and you are telling me to have more children?””I don’t think so”. We are about to go out, so I’ll write to you later. Love , Mom and Dad

Gregory M, Jason D, Wesley B and Brandon W 1/503 B CO You and all of the 173rd are prayed for EVERYDAY! A PRAYER FOR SOLDIERS
Gracious God, I pray for our soldiers. Let your grace be a protective shield, guarding them from harm and keeping them close to your love and compassion. May I always remember that they are the ones who face the horrors and dangers of war first-hand. Help us honor them for their courage and care for them when there is damage to their bodes or spirit. When they are lonely or afraid, and long to be with those whom they love, fill their hearts with the sure knowledge of your presence at all times, in war and peace. Let them feel, O God, deep in their hearts, that your love is always there--boundlessly, unconditionally, and eternally. Amen. Stay strong and true! A mother's love never quits! Love, Gregory's Mom

I just wanted to make sure everyone knew about the 173rd ABCT vFRG web site. It's a secure web site maintained by the 173rd ABCT command. They have
all kinds of stuff on there like downloads for MP3s of interviews with Soldiers downrange through AFN, pictures, letters from the commanders. All you
have to do is go to www.armyfrg.org. Select Italy for the 173rd ABCT (which has the phone interviews and stuff) or for 1-503 or 2-503. Or, Germany for
1-91 CAV, 173rd BSB, 173rd STB or 4-319th. All you have to know is the first and last name of the "sponsor" (soldier) and the last four of their social.
The soldier has to belong to that unit for you to be able to get into the web site. All families of soldiers in the 173rd ABCT can get into the 173rd
ABCT web site. If you want to register for the 173rd ABCT web site and a battalion, you just follow the steps again. They also post things on the
web sites for the soldiers downrange. Spread the word! All our family members and soldiers deserve to get as much information as possible.

To PFC Marc Blair, 4-319th:
Last night I was at the house when Sonya was going to bed. She cried and fought getting in her bed and then, according to Amber, for the first time she was cried over and over "I want Daddy! I want Daddy!" Enough to break my heart. I went in to the bedroom and told her that I had forgotten to give her a very important message. Daddy wanted me to tell her that they had a special date tonight in her dreams and he wanted to make sure she met him in Grandma's backyard by the big ball. I asked her if she could do this for you because you were really looking forward to seeing her in her dreams and she shook her head yes, asked for a hug and went to sleep. Just writing to ask you how your "date" went and so you, too, remember to meet her in your dreams. She misses you so much, Marc, and it was all I could do to keep from crying to make it worse. SO! Don't forget, Grandma's backyard, by the big ball. She'll be waiting for ya! Love ya little brother...thinking of you. Love, Jenn XOXOXO

I want first to say “STAY HARD “and remember to put GOD first before every mission and each morning and night before you sleep. Leaders put your men first and treat everyone with respect and to you great and powerful things will happen. Stay focused and keep your mind on the mission at hand and don’t concern yourselves with the things here in the states or where ever loved ones might be REMEMBER in order to deal with or change anything you must get back home safely “STAY FOCUSD” !! Our Prayers and Hearts are with you each step of the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Irby Cotton II Sky Soldier Viet Nam 70 & 71

To all I want to say "Thank You" for serving your country. I know you must be scared and miss your families. Please know there's many people in a little rural community of corn and soybean fields at the southern end of Virginia Beach, Virginia that have you in their thoughts and prayers everyday. We've been sending gift boxes of items donated by the community for weeks. A total of 3,000 items have been donated so it'd be hard to send it all at one time. I hope the items have helped to make life a little more tolerable in the midst of all that's going on around you.
